Christopher Waters

Partner

Christopher practised initially in London. In 1998, together with two colleagues, he established Mortimers. Christopher now specialises in Employment Law and related areas. He has been a member of the Employment Law Association for many years. Christopher acts for both employers and employees and he conducts cases including Unfair and Wrongful Dismissal, Redundancy exercises, Sexual, Racial or Disability based Discrimination, Working Time Regulations, and the TUPE legislation. He also drafts contractual documentation, company handbooks and policy statements.

Karen Brake

Partner

Family Law Partner, Karen Brake, has specialised in family law for over 25 years and undertakes all aspects of family law work. Karen specialises in representing children, parents and extended family members within care proceedings as well as acting for children in private children cases where the child has been joined as party (Rule 16 cases).  She undertakes most of her own advocacy and is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel. In addition she deals with divorces for high net worth clients and is a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Panel and a member of Resolution.

Rebecca Lively

Partner

Rebecca qualified in December 1997. She worked for some years in Private Practice in London, before spending 15 months in Australia practising in Queensland. Rebecca joined Mortimers in August 2003 and she now practises exclusively in the area of Family Law. She is a member of Resolution. and acts for both private and publicly funded clients. She manages the Legal Aid Agency Franchise for the Mortimers Hereford Office and became a partner in January 2006.

Kathryn Price

Solicitor

Kathryn qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and has specialised in family law since then. She has experience of acting for both private and publically funded clients in divorce proceedings, and in the resolution of financial matters following divorce or separation. She has acted for parents in private law disputes relating to children.

Ann Vowles

Solicitor

Ann studied law at Exeter University and went to Chester Law School. She did her training in Hereford and qualified in October 1994. Initially dealing with personal injury work and Family Law, she has specialised in Family Law since 1997. Ann is accredited as a Family Law practitioner by the SRA and also as a Specialist Family Lawyer by Resolution, specialising in Advanced Financial Provision and Children Law. Ann also specialises in dealing with ancillary relief cases (financial) and all aspects of divorce, separation, cohabitee disputes and private law children matters.

Terri Mason

Solicitor

Terri joined Mortimers in February 2014 having previously working in private practice.  Prior to that, Terri worked as a Child Care Lawyer for a city Local Authority for 4 years during which time she achieved a Diploma in Local Government Law and Practice.

Terri specialises in Children Law (Public Law).  Terri is a member of Law Society’s Children’s Accreditation Scheme (also known as the Children’s Panel). She represents Children via their Children's Guardian, parents, grandparents, or other connected persons in a variety of public law proceedings such as care, supervision, discharge of care orders, contact with a child in care, secure accommodation, and placement proceedings. She has managed a number of complicated cases involving issues of jurisdiction, non-accidental injuries, and fabricated illness.  Terri has also gained experience in International child abduction cases.

Terri also represents Children via their Children's Guardian in Children Private Law Proceedings involving residence, contact, specific issue, prohibited steps and special guardianship orders.

Joanne Briscoe

Solicitor

Joanne qualified as a solicitor in 1992. She previously worked for a legal 500 firm specialising in Professional Negligence. Joanne joined Mortimers in 2002, since which time she has developed a Specialist Employment/Litigation Practice, dealing with substantial Civil Claims and all aspects of Employment and Commercial Litigation.

Jane Alderson

Solicitor

Jane has been involved in property law ever since she left school. She qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and immediately afterwards joined Mortimers as one of its first members of staff having previously worked as a legal executive at a large Birmingham practice. Jane has returned to join the conveyancing department at Mortimers where she specialises in all aspects of the buying and selling of residential property. She is a well known figure in Bridgnorth and surrounding area, having been born and bred in the town.

Hannah Banks

Solicitor

Hannah qualified as a Solicitor in May 2002. Hannah joined our Private Client team having gained significant experience and expertise at a leading practice in Birmingham where she worked for 12 years. Hannah’s main areas of expertise are wills, probates, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and inheritance tax planning. She has clients in all three of our offices and is always happy to make home visits.

Catherine Marriott

Solicitor

Catherine qualified as a solicitor in November 1995 after studying at Northumbria University and training with a Dorset-based firm. Upon qualifying she spent several years in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire working for local firms before joining a specialist conveyancing practice in Leicestershire for seven years. During this time she spent 18 months in their Sri Lankan office helping to establish a back office operation and train Sri Lankan lawyers. She specialises in residential property including sales, purchases, transfers of equity and first registrations of title.

Liz Miles

Solicitor

Liz trained and has practiced law in Worcester since completing her academic training in Birmingham. She specializes in the areas of family that affect children. Within the Public law arena, Liz represents children, via their Children's Guardians, parents and extended family members, providing advice on care proceedings and related issues. She has experience of cases involving serious non accidental injuries and sexual abuse. Liz assists vulnerable clients with learning disabilities and clients requiring the Official Solicitor. Within private law cases, Liz has represented children and parents in cases of implacable hostility, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Liz is a member of the SRA Children Panel and a trained family mediator.

Leane Spencer

Solicitor

Leane qualified as a Solicitor in 2009 and specialises in wills, probates, lasting powers of attorney, trusts and deputyship applications to the Court of Protection. She originates from Hereford and studied and trained in Cardiff before returning to the area. Leane has a particular interest in agricultural probate and is a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly, specialising in older and vulnerable clients. She is always happy to make home visits.

Michelle Corbett

Solicitor

Michelle qualified as a solicitor in 1995. After practising in Shropshire for a number of years Michelle moved to Worcestershire where she has spent the past 15 years specialising in family law. Michelle represents parents and extended family members in children cases (both private and public) and has experience of representing parents in public law cases involving fabricated illness and serious non-accidental injury. Including representing parents with significant learning difficulties and mental health problems where the Official Solicitor is involved.
