Everyone at Mortimers is delighted after the firm announced the launch an office in Shrewsbury town centre - and it is now very much open for business.

This is the first time Mortimers has had a presence in the county town.

The firm has now taken on prestigious premises in Swan Hill Court, just off Swan Hill.

Partner Christopher Waters, who co-founded Mortimers in 1998, said he was delighted that the firm would now have a branch in Shrewsbury.

He added: “We have wanted to move into Shrewsbury for a while but we were just waiting for the right premises to become available.

“I strongly believe that the demographic of Shrewsbury and the surrounding area, and the services we provide dovetail very well.

“We will be concentrating on private family and matrimonial work, as well as employment and agricultural services.

“This is an extremely exciting move for Mortimers. The premises, which are in a prestigious and discrete part of the town centre with parking for clients, are ideal for our purposes."

Mr Waters explained that solicitors would be moving from other Mortimers offices rather than the offices being filled by the employment of new staff.

He added: “Because we obviously missed out on the tender process for legal aid for the Shrewsbury office, our focus will be on private-client work.

“This fits well into the overall Mortimers profile as the Bridgnorth and Hereford offices have been granted a substantial number of legal aid starts by the Legal Services Commission.”
