We are delighted to announce that one of the area’s leading figures in the world of agricultural law has joined our team.

Nigel Gowling is a respected barrister who was previously a member of the UK’s largest chambers as an agricultural expert.

Mr Gowling, who lives near Ross-on-Wye, is now working with Mortimers as in-house counsel.

He is predominantly based in our Hereford offices but he frequently travels to Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth.

“I cover a range of matters associated with agriculture and rural affairs,” said Mr Gowling.

“Background understanding and knowledge of the industry is essential in understanding individual clients’ issues and problems.

“These can include anything from agricultural holding and tenancy matters to contractual disputes, and livestock/equine issues to negligence claims.

“I have spent several years as a barrister and mediator with No 5 Chambers, working at their Bristol annexe, but I wanted to spend more time in an area where I have a lot of contacts and see scope for real growth.

“I have worked with Mortimers in the past and the opportunity to work with such a forward-thinking firm in both a city and county I know really well was too good to let pass.”
