A Shropshire firm of solicitors has bolstered its family law department by welcoming a well known figure from the county legal scene to its team.

Jackie Meredith has joined Mortimers Solicitors after spending many years working at a Telford-based practice.

She specialises in all aspects of family-related issues, including matrimonial and childcare matters, and domestic abuse, and is a member of several accredited panels across the family law spectrum.

Mrs Meredith will be predominantly based at Mortimers’ Shrewsbury office in the town centre where she will be heading up the branch’s family division.

Christopher Waters, co-founder and senior partner at Mortimers, said he was delighted that Mrs Meredith had agreed to join the firm.

“This is a real feather in our cap,” said Mr Waters, who set up Mortimers in 1998.

“Jackie brings with her a wealth of experience and a real knowledge of all aspects of family law, and is well versed in both private client and Legal Aid based work.

“Now that our Shrewsbury office is very much up and running we were keen to find someone of a high calibre with a broad range of skills to head our family department there, and I believe we have found the perfect person to fill that role.

“We would like to think that Mortimers’ family team is one of the most respected in Shropshire and the West Midlands, and the arrival of Jackie will only serve to reinforce that claim.”

Mrs Meredith has worked at well known firms in Telford since the mid 1990s.

She said: “This is a hugely exciting opportunity for me and I see this as being a really important moment for me in my career.

“I have got to know various members of Mortimers’ family law department over several years of seeing them at court, and the firm’s reputation in this part of the world is well deserved.”
